The best 800 protocol ever..saved my life this book!

I have been following the protocol from this book and have now lost 80lbs by following it to a T. Something I never thought possible in my life. I am an emotional eater, and chose poor choices at the grocery store. In fact 6-7 times a week it was fast food. After getting on this protocol, and seeing results leave my body rapidly but safely, I realized just how effective it was to eat clean, and still enjoy life. I was never deprived, never sick, and full of energy. I even slept great for the first time in years. I am so close to goal now because I followed this book, and have always stabilized between rounds. This book has everything you need to maximize your weightloss safely. They have good recipes in there for us, a grocery list, suppliments list, sample menus and even places to go for actual support. I know that I was on a road to destruction in my life. This books saved me from my destructive self. This is a tool for life, and I will never have an excuse again to yo yo up and down or ever worry about myself getting into an unhealthy BMI. My doctor is absolutely amazed at what I have done, thank you Sonia E. Russell for providing such an amazing tool to get people healthy. This clinically studied diet, has helped alot of people. I have seen the journey's and transformations, and they are just jaw dropping!

Meh...It Has a Few Good Ideas However I'm Disappointed

I wish I could give this book 5-stars and say it is the most definitive HCG book ever. But I can't.
I've done the HCG diet before and I find it a difficult and excellent way to lose fat while preserving one's muscle mass. My beef with the 500 calorie HCG diet is I think for many people too little protein is ingested to protect their lean muscle mass.
The good things about this book are:
1. You can eat more than 500 calories on HCG.
2. A discussion on green vegetables and water vegetables and what to consume.
3, Clearer guidance on the phases and what foods to eat.
4. A nice list of recipes and what phases to consume these recipes on.
5. Advising people to take anti-candida medicine to reduce candida while doing the HCG diet.
The book "Pounds and Inches" is free allover the net and it is flawed but also adequate to help a person succeed on HCG. A better HCG diet book is needed and this book addresses some holes however it falls short. My advice for HCG dieters is as follows:
*Don't eat the cracker it will slow your weight loss down.
*If you go over 500 calories, eat more protein. Me, I buy egg white protein and make shakes. Hard boiled eggs are good to. Eat the whites and throw away the yolks except perhaps a 1/2 a yolk a day.
*Go with apples or strawberries. Some people do oranges and grapefruit. Blueberries were a stall creator for me. Don't get fancy here with fruit.
*Do the 50 day maintenance phase keeping you body weight stable or....DON'T bother doing this diet. Do this and you'll keep the weight off. Ignore or short-change this phase and you'll undo all your hard work.
*Do a food/energy/emotions/poop journal. This will help you see the relationship between between how food makes you feel. Do this right and it will open your eyes. Emotions are often the root cause behind weight. Understand the emotions that cause binge eating and then find better ways to deal with those emotions. Chocolate cake will make your mouth feel good for about 5min but feeling poorly the next several hours.
It is an OK book. Perhaps I'll warm up to it if I like the recipes. If so I'll update my review if this happens.

This helped me lose 120+ lbs ...

After having 3 children, I, like many others, found myself well over 200 lbs. I started the hcg diet and only had Dr. Simeons original manuscript to follow. Finding this protocol has completely changed my perceptions on food. Not only did I lose more with the 800 than the 500 protocol, but it helped me to not lose hair (like I did on the 500) and stick with the protocol long enough to reach goal weight. Not only was I able to lose the weight, but I have kept it off because of Sonia's focus on real foods and no artificial "replacements" for my poor food habits. Not only have my eating habits changed, but so have the eating habits of my whole family. I am happy to say that I've kept the weight off for nearly a year and my children also focus on if something they are eating is "healthy" or not. :-)
